Feature Friday: Everett
This week's featured writer is Everett. He is a 5th grader completing IEW's Following Narnia course under my tutelage. My Narnia class is working extra hard right now to master the sentence openers and follow the SO rules. Everett's paragraph about the White Witch shows so much growth in this area.
He is a super writer and the son of proud parents Mindy and Jonathan. Read his excellent paragraph below and feel free to give him some encouraging words in comments.
A Cruel Queen
The White Witch was spiteful. When Edmund arrived at her house, he expected a fresh batch of Turkish Delight. She gave him dry bread and water instead. Excited, he told her about his siblings and the beavers. Inside the castle, she ordered her wolves to rush to the Beavers' house and destroy everything inside and then meet her at the stone table. As the Queen sternly rode in her large sledge, she passed a group of tiny animals. They were celebrating Christmas because Father Christmas had arrived! She turned them into stone. Cruelly, she did not want Christmas celebrated in Narnia again. At last, Edmund realized how terrible the Witch was and tried to save the animals; however, she slapped him in the face. Sternly, the White Witch declared that if anyone spoke the name "Aslan" again, they would be killed. She was a very cruel queen who really was no queen, but a witch.
Wonderful paragraph with great descriptive language! We love the Narnia stories!
ReplyDeleteThank you! He is a talented young man!
DeleteGreat job Everett! Excellent use of adjectives and adverbs in your paragraph. C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite British authors.
ReplyDeleteI am very proud of him for those QAs and LYs. He is a delight to tutor.
