High School Literature for 2022-23

High School Literature

Using Michael Clay Thompson's The Time Trilogy for the fall semester and The Fog Trilogy for the spring semester, I will lead students through 6 units of study in classical literature.

Who?

This class has been developed with advanced 8th graders and 9th graders in mind. You may have noticed that the MCT website suggests The Time Trilogy for 7th-8th graders. I have found that classical-leaning curriculum tends to be challenging, and I believe the MCT methods are good for students who are new to high school-level literature. I intend to use the 1st semester to introduce students to high school-level reading, thinking, discussing, and writing.

The second semester's reading list is intended for 9th-10th graders. I will use this semester to move students into more independence and prepare them for upper-level studies.

Upperclassmen are welcome to take the course as are advanced 8th graders.

When?

Tuesdays online: 10:00-11:30 a.m. Eastern

Fall Semester: Aug. 9--Nov. 29, 2022
Spring Semester: Jan. 10--May 3, 2023

There will be 2 breaks each semester and a semester final exam due one week after the final class meeting.

The price for the full-year course is $600. You will be asked to commit to the entire year.
