3rd-8th Grade Classes for 2022-23

I am happy to announce that I will offer 3 online synchronous classes for grades 3-8 in 2022-23!

For 3rd and 4th graders I will teach IEW's All Things Fun and Fascinating

This is one of my favorite themed writing books! In it, students start with short reports about fascinating science topics. They progress through fable writing, narrative stories from around the world--including my favorite, Pecos Bill, and poetry. The year ends with them writing longer reports about "Men Who Changed the World" and longer creative works about events and people that are special to them.

Weekly instruction will set your child up to work independently at home. Assignments will be due weekly and submitted in Google Classroom. I will grade all work, provide feedback, and average grades. You will receive a written report with your child's final average and a short summary of his/her progress at the end of the year for your records.

Join me on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. Eastern for an hour of writing fun!

For 5th and 6th graders I will teach IEW's Ancient History-Based Writing.

From IEW's website: This theme-based writing curriculum exposes students to the ancient world through cultural literature and the study of famous places and events while they learn to write with the Structure and Style®️ writing method.

Join me on Thursdays at 11:15 a.m. Eastern for an adventure through time!

For 7th and 8th graders I will teach IEW's U.S. History-Based Writing

From IEW's website: Travel back in time to early United State history! This theme-based writing curriculum allows students to delve into the excitement of explorers, battles, land expansion, famous ships, and founding fathers while learning to write with the Structure and Style writing method.

In this course students will learn from all nine IEW units, beginning with less complex reports and culminating in a formal report and a response to literature. This course is excellent preparation for high school composition.
